Control and optimization algorithms for autonomous cars

This doctoral research project focuses on building an autonomous race model car. The goal is to participate in F1/10 competition. Beside of the aspects already covered by previous diploma theses covering the model car construction (mechanical design, electronics design, and basic software) the thesis will focus on advanced aspects of the SW architecture, namely on control and optimization algorithms. Car software is based on the Robot Operating System (ROS), IMU, camera, and Lidar. The goal is to investigate advanced methods for representation of the car’s world and innovative approaches to autonomous car control. Standard methods for the SW development and testing including MIL and HIL approaches will be used. Efficient implementations of novel algorithms, experiments with these approaches in real-life scenarios, and guidance of diploma students collaborating on specific tasks will be part of this work.
